Well I'm back at the running blog. I have been running 2-3 times a week for a couple of months now since my doctor cleared me for running. In case you don't remember, I broke my femur last March after the Moab Half Marathon.

I was mountainbiking on the Slickrock trail and crashed right at the end of the trail. It was an impact fracture and broke into roughly 11 pieces high on my left leg. I have a 12 inch plate and some 9 titanium screws now but the bone has healed admirably. I am now trying to get my leg muscles back into shape. I have no restrictions from my doctor but have noticed that I still limp a bit beyond 3-4 miles or so of running.

At seven miles this was one of the longer runs I've done since the injury. The pace was moderate as Jo was with Larry and me. We ran along the canal in the snow and had an enjoyable time talking.

Temperature was in the mid 20s.

Got out with Paul and Larry for about 5 miles at an easy pace. It was quite cold (around 17 degrees or so) and it seemed to get harder from about 3 miles on.

6 miles at the BYU track with Katy. Felt good just to get out.

Went to the BYU track with Katy. Ran a fairly easy 6 miles averaging 10:30 pace with Katy and 8:45 pace solo. Felt it was a good effort considering the circumstances.

Today's run was an easy 5 miles on the BYU track with my two teenage girls. They can currently sprint faster than me, but I can still run farther than them. My pace today was 2 miles at a 10 min/mile pace, 2 miles at a 9-9:30 min/mil pace and one mile at about 7:45 min/mile. I was fairly tired at the end though I certainly could have gone a few additional miles if pressed.
